Top 10 Unconventional Wedding Venues in Singapore
A wedding surrounded by gardens. Dinner overlooking Marina Bay. Even a walk down the aisle beneath stained-glass windows.
Our little island has plenty of wedding venues for couples looking beyond the traditional hotel ballroom. Whether you picture a relaxed restaurant celebration or a grand heritage setting, your venue brings to life your personality from the moment your guests arrive.
At Bridelope Productions, we’ve been photographing weddings for so long and have been to so many venues that we decided to give you a list of 10 unconventional venues in Singapore to consider. In this little list, we hand picked locations for couples who want somewhere with character, along with a photographer’s perspective on what to consider when choosing your setting.
Some are familiar wedding favourites, while others might be new to your shortlist. Each offers a distinctive way to celebrate and we hope that you find this list useful!
1. Hortus

For couples drawn to greenery and intimate garden celebrations.
Set within the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay, Hortus brings together a garden setting, Mediterranean food and the cool surroundings of the conservatory.
There’s something lovely about gathering your closest people around a meal with greenery all around you. For couples who enjoy the idea of a garden wedding, Hortus offers a setting worth exploring without committing to a fully outdoor celebration.

From a photography perspective, the plants and textures give the surroundings plenty of character. A simple approach to styling can work beautifully here, allowing the people, flowers and setting to shine naturally in a gorgeous composition.
If you've always pictured your wedding as a beautiful meal shared with your favourite people, surrounded by greenery, Hortus is one to keep on your list!
2. Wheeler’s Tropikana

For couples who want a tropical celebration with a relaxed atmosphere.
At Gillman Barracks, Wheeler’s Tropikana brings an island-inspired setting to Singapore (ironic, yes). Earthy colours, rattan furnishings, greenery and an outdoor dipping pool give the venue its distinctive personality.
This is one to consider if you picture a wedding with a holiday mood: drinks, conversation and a celebration that feels comfortable and unhurried.

The warm tones and natural materials also offer plenty to work with visually. Try to picture photographs that include the setting’s unique visual textures, alongside candid moments with your favourite people.
As its main dining area is sheltered alfresco, we recommend that you visit around the time you intend to celebrate. This would let you get a better sense of the temperature, light and atmosphere your guests will experience on the day itself.
3. MONTI

For couples who love waterfront views and a city wedding.
With its glass pavilion overlooking Marina Bay, MONTI draws the city itself into its wedding setting. Its rooftop offers space for solemnisation, while the indoor dining area continues the waterfront experience over an Italian meal.
It’s an appealing choice if you want a restaurant wedding with a strong sense of occasion. The architecture gives the venue a clear identity and the views bring Singapore into the photographs.

Timing deserves some thought here. A daytime celebration and an evening reception can have very different moods, so consider which you prefer before building your schedule.
If sunset portraits are important to you, discuss how to fit them around your ceremony and time with guests. Conversely, if you value a night cityscape with its lights and skyscrapers, plan around that too!
4. The Summerhouse

For couples imagining a countryside-style garden wedding.
Tucked away in unassuming Seletar, The Summerhouse occupies a conserved former Royal Air Force bungalow surrounded by gardens. The estate houses several dining concepts, including Botanico, and offers a mix of spaces for celebrations.
The appeal is easy to understand: a heritage house, greenery and the feeling of stepping away from the busiest parts of Singapore for the day.

The bungalow and gardens give wedding photographs a lovely sense of "place". If you've decided that Summerhouse is for you, you can expect us to make room for a few portraits that take in the surroundings, alongside the genuine moments between you and your guests.
If you’re the kind of person that always imagined saying your vows in a lush garden and gathering everyone for a leisurely meal, The Summerhouse is one to explore. It’s easy to picture a celebration here with time for yet another toast, another long conversation and a few more quiet moments together.
5. Wheeler’s Estate

For couples who picture a wedding around a bungalow, lawn and trees.
Wheeler’s Estate offers a black-and-white bungalow alongside garden, lawn and woodland ceremony settings. It's a highly versatile venue because it gives both the couple and the photographer several ways to shape a celebration around its grounds.
One of the most iconic features of this venue has to be the large tree with hanging lights. If you always dreamt of a wedding that has a touch of magic to it, Wheeler's Estate should definitely be part of your viewing list.

That said, the combination of architecture and greenery can give a wedding gallery variety while keeping the day in one location. With wide shots highlight the setting and closer frames bringing the attention back to the people and their reactions, a wedding photoshoot here is bound to be dynamic.
During your visit, consider the walking routes between spaces. Shade, shelter and comfortable access will matter just as much as the ceremony backdrop, we are in sunny Singapore afterall!
6. EMPRESS

For couples who want Chinese dining in a distinctive heritage setting.
Located at the Asian Civilisations Museum beside the Singapore River, EMPRESS pairs contemporary Chinese restaurant interiors with heritage surroundings and riverside views (and let's be honest, the name of the restaurant is aura).
It’s a compelling option for couples who want a contemporary twist on the usual Chinese wedding feast. The venue offers indoor dining and riverside outdoor spaces, opening up several possibilities for the celebration.

Photographically, a huge attraction is the range of surroundings close at hand. Your reception, the building’s exterior and the river can each contribute something different to the story of the day.
For couples who love the familiar warmth of a Chinese wedding feast, EMPRESS brings that experience to a riverside setting with a modern twist. Expect shared dishes, lively conversations and tables surrounded by the people who mean the most!
7. Vineyard at HortPark

For couples who enjoy rustic interiors and garden surroundings.
Vineyard at HortPark combines countryside-inspired dining spaces with the greenery of HortPark. Its wedding spaces include an indoor dining hall, a verandah and a beautiful outdoor patio beside a reflecting pool.
This is a lovely direction for couples who imagine a garden ceremony and large open spaces with towering trees and lush green spaces.

The different areas also allow you to consider how the day should feel at each stage. An outdoor exchange of vows can lead into a more sheltered dining setting, with time for portraits built around the transition.
With its rustic interiors and surrounding greenery, Vineyard has the charm of a countryside gathering. It’s a lovely setting for couples who picture their wedding unfolding over a good meal, heartfelt toasts and the company of their closest people.
8. Artemis Grill & Sky Bar

For couples who want an outdoor ceremony above the city.
At the rooftop of CapitaGreen, Artemis Grill & Sky Bar combines an outdoor garden solemnisation space with an indoor dining hall.
It’s worth considering if you’re drawn to a city wedding but would still like part of the celebration outdoors. The rooftop setting gives the ceremony a distinct atmosphere, while the dining space offers a natural next chapter for the day.

From a photography perspective, a rooftop invites you to include more of the surroundings. A few wider frames can establish the setting alongside the closer photographs of your vows and your guests’ reactions.
One consideration is to talk through the weather arrangements and ceremony timing with the venue team, particularly if the outdoor setting is central to your plans!
9. 1-Atico

For couples who want a dramatic indoor setting high above Singapore.
1-Atico offers a glass-dome solemnisation setting above the city, alongside dining experiences from FIRE and FLNT.
For couples who live for modern architecture and expansive views, it brings a strong visual identity to an indoor wedding. The setting can carry much of the atmosphere, leaving you more free to enjoy yourself during your special day.

Large windows and skyline views also make the time of day an important consideration. Bright daylight and the city after dark will produce different looks in your photographs.
Visit at a similar hour to your intended celebration if possible, and discuss your preferred mood with your photographer before deciding where to place key moments in the schedule.
10. CHIJMES Hall

For couples who love heritage architecture and a memorable aisle.
With its Gothic architecture, high ceilings, stained-glass windows and chandeliers, CHIJMES Hall offers a setting with an unmistakable sense of occasion.
It may already be a familiar name on Singapore wedding shortlists, but its character earns it a place among the alternatives to a conventional ballroom.

For photography, the scale of the hall invites both wide architectural photographs and intimate frames of the ceremony. The aisle, windows and height of the space each offer a different way to compose a moment.
Give yourself time to enjoy the entrance and ceremony. A venue this distinctive deserves to appear in your photographs, but the expressions of the people waiting for you will be just as meaningful.
How to Choose the Right Venue for Your Wedding?
Start by imagining how you want to spend the day. It's your day afterall.
Would you enjoy an outdoor ceremony followed by a relaxed meal? Perhaps a Chinese banquet is important to your families? Do you picture greenery, heritage architecture or a view of the city?
Once you have a sense of the atmosphere, then you can start on the practical details:
Guest comfort: Think about seating, temperature, accessibility and the distance between spaces.
Wet-weather arrangements: Ask to see the actual alternative setup for any outdoor portion.
Privacy: Clarify which areas are exclusive to your celebration and which remain open to other visitors.
Light and timing: Visit around your intended ceremony or reception time.
The flow of the day: Leave enough room for conversations, family photographs and a little time together.
A beautiful venue should also support the kind of celebration you want to have. You should be able to picture yourselves enjoying the day there!
